Red Faction Map Pack

Here are 183 custom maps for Red Faction. Yes, as in OG RF. JeTbike Extreme has a map or two in here, as there are many maps from the old community as well.

Turns out I still had them on an old hard drive. Mirrored and ready for your downloading pleasure. An image map of the contents is attached to this post.

183 RF Maps for your pleasure. Right around 200 MB for the .rar archive.
According to the file info, these files are circa 2001 – 2003. Also tipped off by the terrible.jpg compression from when I made the image of the contents.

Super Mario Maker

Ok, so Super Mario Maker is a game, where you can make, and play Super Mario Levels. The game engines you can use are:

  • Super Mario Bros (NES)
  • Super Mario Bros 3 (NES)
  • Super Mario World (SNES)
  • Super Mario Bros U (WiiU)

I don’t say this much, but the manual is really good. 10 Mario Challenge is your semi-randomized 8 level per world, single player challenge mode. 100 Mario Challenge is the online map version of the world map levels.
With the game, comes an idea book. Entering the codes provided on the in-game manual page… is staggering. I was watching gameplay videos and tutorials last night for at least an hour. So many things to tinker with and learn. I look forward to making some tripped out levels. The original Mario 1 levels on graph paper diagrams are amazing too. Nice to see the physics of different objects and jumps.

Also of note, are the autoplay levels, you can download from the community. I’ve watched some of the ‘Dont press anything’ levels and had my mind blown. This game is so meta, that I see if being a classic for years to come. The content options are so vast. Think of it as Mario Paint, but instead a level designer. All the extras and easter eggs in this game, are legit.

So if you have a Wii U, I would pick this up. If you do not have a console, I would really consider it. Especially if you are a fan of the classic Mario games and have an interest in making some levels.

Google Data Mining

I wanted to share the details listed in Google services with your history. https://history.google.com/history/ will let you check through search history, advertising settings and so on.

To clear them, you want to click the vertical … bar and select Delete options. Pick advanced and All Time.
You will need to do this for each record set / option of google services. If you use chrome and log in, you will surely see some data there. Personally, I think Google is playing a little Cover-Your-Ass by disclosing these tools to general users. Along those lines, I find it hard to pretend other major data players, do not do the same thing with user data.

Here is a guide on the privacy settings. Remember your GPS history is there and that some content will persist, even after a clear all history. You ‘Pause’ the tracking services. Interesting wording there.

Nvidia Linux Drivers

I updated my Kernel and such the other day, and noticed my Video Drivers are full of fail.  The Non-working Kernel with the Nvidia drivers is 2.6.22-15.

I rolled back to kernel .14 and was back to video, with the June 11th Nvidia Drivers.  A heads up for anyone updating their configs.
